Dr.
Thomas (Tom) George is the
co-Founder and CEO of SaraniaSat Inc. based in Los Angeles, California, USA.
SaraniaSat was founded to address the issue of rapid adoption of Big Data and
IoT in the agricultural sector. SaraniaSat has developed customized hardware
and software solutions for the acquisition and rapid processing of high
spatial, temporal and spectral resolution imagery to deliver actionable
information to its customers in Precision Agriculture.
Tom is
an expert on semiconductor technology with particular emphasis on MEMS and
Nanotechnology. He received his B.Tech degree from the Indian Institute of
Technology, Madras, and his Masters and PhD degrees in Materials Science
Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. Tom has over 30 years
of experience having worked in senior engineering and management positions at
National Semiconductor Corp., Intel Corp. (on a joint project with UC
Berkeley), Nagoya Institute of Technology (Japan), NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory,
and most recently at three startup companies: Vialogy LLC, Zyomed Corp and
Chromologic LLC before founding SaraniaSat Inc.. Tom is a prolific inventor
with 11 patents, and over 100 publications. He has created and chaired an
international Micro- and Nanotechnology Sensors, Systems, and Applications Conference
for over a decade. In 2014 Tom was awarded the SPIE Fellow in recognition of
his lifetime accomplishments in MEMS/Nanotechnology.
